A couple claims their child was detained during a raid at a charity home linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Businesses Holdings (GISBH) in Rasah, Negeri Sembilan, on Sept 11, despite having no ties to the organisation.

As a result, the couple, Amar Hatta, 27, and Nur Izati Ahmad, 25, are requesting the Social Welfare Department (SWD) to return their one-year-old daughter to them. 

Recounting the incident, Nur Izati said she was simply working as a cook at the charity home and had brought her child with her during the raid. 

“At first, SWD thought I had left my child there (for care). I explained that I was the cook. However, my child was taken during the operation. 

“My child has been under SWD’s care since Sept 11. The accusation against me is related to neglect.

“I request the return of my baby. We have no connection with GISBH,” she claimed at a press conference at the Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) office in Setiawangsa, Kuala Lumpur, today. 

‘Cruel and inhumane’

On Oct 15, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Nancy Shukri announced that 560 rescued children have been placed under SWD’s care, while two have been returned to their families or guardians.

This was after SWD obtained a temporary custody order from the court for two months, she added.

Meanwhile, Amar stated that he had visited SWD twice to inquire about his child’s status. 

During those visits, he claimed he was not allowed to see his child and was only shown a picture.

“I have contacted Cheras SWD, and they said my child had been separated and would be returned,” he added.  

Additionally, PRM president Ahmad Jufliz Faiza urged the authorities to promptly return the nursing infant.

He described the act of separating the baby from her parents as cruel and inhumane. 

“I am focused on ensuring that their (Amar and Nur Izati) child is released immediately,” he said.
