Before 'UmDAP', there was 'PASDAP' - Perak MB

Perak Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad has urged Umno members not to be affected by those who label them as “UmDAP”, referring to the federal coalition government that includes both Umno and DAP.

Dismissing such labels as cheap politics, he pointed out that before “UmDAP” existed, there was already “PASDAP”, referring to the cooperation between PAS and DAP during the Pakatan Rakyat era.

“If there are young Malay graduates who took the bait when people say the current government includes Umno with DAP, tell them that previously there was ‘PASDAP’.

“You must mention that this ‘PASDAP’ lasted for 11 months (as Perak government). After the government changed, they protested in front of the palace, yet they claimed they weren’t power-hungry.

“So, Umno members shouldn’t feel dispirited when people mention ‘UmDAP’ because there was already a ‘PASDAP’ before,” he was quoted by Umno Online as saying in a briefing on current issues in Lenggong last night.

Saarani, who is also the Perak Umno chairperson, said rationality among members plays an important role in ensuring the party remains steadfast in facing the challenges of a dynamic political landscape.

“Umno members must be loyal and steadfast. Just because our brethren were not selected as candidates, it doesn’t mean we should be demotivated as well or engage in sabotage.

“We lost seats (before) due to such actions,” he was quoted as saying.
