Loke cites 'CIMB' formula for new Selangor DAP line-up
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has urged the party’s Selangor delegates to elect four of its MPs into the state central committee as evidence of a commitment towards upholding diversity and inclusivity.
Speaking at the Selangor DAP Convention, he said the next state committee should comprise “CIMB” - “Chinese, Indian, Malay and also Punjabi”.
“From 50 contenders there must be ‘CIMB [...] There must be this diversity.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has urged the party’s Selangor delegates to elect four of its MPs into the state central committee as evidence of a commitment towards upholding diversity and inclusivity.
Speaking at the Selangor DAP Convention, he said the next state committee should comprise “CIMB” - “Chinese, Indian, Malay, and also Punjabi”.
“From 50 contenders there must be ‘CIMB [...] There must be this diversity.
“If we see in Selangor, we have four MPs. In Puchong, Damansara, Klang, and Bangi. These four seats have proven our diversity,” said Loke in reference to Puchong MP Yeo Bee Yin, Damansara MP Gobind Singh Deo, Klang MP V Ganabatirau, and Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan.
He told Selangor DAP delegates gathered at the Ideal Convention Centre, Shah Alam, that he does not take to the stage and campaign in party elections often.
“But I hope from the 15 (elected), these four (MPs) must be in the committee, if possible.
“The 11 others are up to you but these four national-level leaders in Parliament, I hope they are given the mandate and opportunity by delegates,” he said.
The Seremban MP, however, was quick to add that his endorsements do not indicate less support for other contenders in the Selangor DAP polls, including assemblypersons and state exco members.
He added that Selangor DAP continues to feature a long list of capable contenders who reflect the need for progressiveness and inclusivity including from a gender lens.
Selangor DAP delegates today voted to elect leaders who will then appoint themselves to the new state committee.
