Whistleblower appears to have ulterior motives - Hamzah

Opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin described the whistleblower who exposed the video scandal involving eight Sabah assemblypersons as having “ulterior motives”.

The Bersatu deputy president-elect said the individual should have provided the information to the authorities discreetly.

“If the whistleblower has already announced they are a whistleblower, what immunity are they seeking? They’ve informed everyone that they are a whistleblower.

“No one should know who the whistleblower is. In this case, people already know who they are. So there’s a conflict there, and I think that’s causing issues for the MACC,” he told reporters at the Selangor Bersatu associate members’ wing convention in Shah Alam, Selangor, today.

“This person has exposed it like this; it seems like there are ulterior motives,” he added.

The whistleblower claimed to have eight videos of assemblypersons discussing alleged bribes he had given them.

Three videos of said assemblypersons and one audio recording have been released thus far.

The whistleblower is seeking protection from the MACC.

However, the Whistleblower Protection Act does not cover those who had a part in the wrongdoing.
