Ex-Sabah Mineral CEO gets grilled again, but is unfazed

Former Sabah Mineral Management (SMM) CEO Jontih Enggihon underwent another questioning session over an MACC report lodged against him.

However, he appeared to be unfazed.

“I can handle the hours. Just as long as the truth emerged,” he told Malaysiakini when asked how many hours he spent at the Sabah MACC headquarters in Kota Kinabalu yesterday.

“I gave them my full cooperation,” he added.

On Tuesday, Jontih (above), who has accused Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor of abusing his powers in issuing licences for mineral mining, was quizzed for seven hours.

He also lodged an MACC report against the chief minister.

Previously, Jontih told Malaysiakini that he has “proof” in the form of “minutes from the SMM board of directors meetings”, “printed briefing notes to the chief minister”, and “text messages from the chief minister”.

“All the evidence is safely kept by someone, somewhere. I am willing to submit them to the MACC,” he said.

The report against Jontih was filed hours after Malaysiakini published a video of him accusing the chief minister of meddling with the granting of licences for mineral exploration in the state.

The report claimed that a “deeply disappointed” Hajiji had decided not to renew Jontih’s contract after learning of this alleged collusion with a businessperson.

The businessperson is the whistleblower who disclosed several videos of alleged corruption in Sabah.

The whistleblower has eight videos, which Malaysiakini has sighted, in which he discusses the alleged bribes given to assemblypersons to support his bid for a mining exploration licence.

Hajiji has claimed that the videos are an attempt to weaken the state government.
