'Give Musa a chance', Sabah PKR says over governor appointment

Sabah PKR has urged people in the state to back the recent appointment of Musa Aman as governor.

In a press conference today, Sabah PKR deputy chairperson Peto Galim said the former chief minister has gone through the proper process and should be given a chance.

“In my opinion, the appointment has been made and has gone through the proper process.

“Tun is also a qualified individual to be appointed, so the people should be magnanimous and accept this appointment well,” Peto said.

Commenting on the Sabah state election, he said Pakatan Harapan has yet to decide on forging any cooperation with any parties.

He also said internal seat allocations are 75 percent done and expected there will be some delay before finalising the details.

“This is due to the festive seasons and end of year,” he said.

Peto also denied claims that Musa’s appointment was part of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s scheme to make Sabah PKR chairperson Mustapha Sakmud the state’s new chief minister.

He reiterated that the PKR president had no part in appointing Musa as Sabah’s new governor as it was at the discretion of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar.

“All parties must respect the Sabah state constitution and the process that has been carried out in accordance with the constitution,” he said.

Musa’s appointment came against the backdrop of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s alliance with BN and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in forming the federal government.

Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor - who is also fighting off corruption allegations and is reportedly seeking Anwar’s support - had nominated Musa for the governor post.
