Apologise to Anwar over 'reckless' accusation, Ku Li told

A PKR leader has expressed outrage over Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah’s accusation against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim regarding the royal addendum.

Fahmi Zainol demanded that the 87-year-old Umno politician publicly apologise to the prime minister for his “reckless and baseless” claims.

Referencing Anwar’s previous statement regarding the addendum, Fahmi said: “The prime minister’s explanation has conclusively put to rest all the accusations and extreme claims regarding the wisdom of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the royal institution, and the integrity of the judiciary.”

Despite this, the PKR supreme council member regretted that Tengku Razaleigh (above), also known as Ku Li, accused Anwar of concealing documents and obstructing justice.

Refuting the allegation, Fahmi said: “This is a serious accusation as there is no issue of hiding facts or any important government documents.

“Gua Musang Umno needs to be more alert in following current developments before making serious accusations like this,” added the Pantai Jerejak assemblyperson.

Yesterday, Malaysiakini reported that Tengku Razaleigh’s Gua Musang Umno division claimed the government had concealed the royal addendum ordering former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak to serve the rest of his jail sentence on house arrest.

Tengku Razaleigh said that as prime minister, Anwar is bound by an oath of loyalty to the Agong and Federal Constitution.

Therefore, he said, any defiance, concealment, or denial of the decree from the Agong constitutes an act of treason.

Following a protracted debate over the addendum, Anwar, on Jan 11, acknowledged its existence but explained that it was sent directly to the attorney-general (AG)at the time.

“The decision (addendum) was sent to the AG… not to me… not to members of the Pardons Board. And the AG, when the new Agong was installed, (the AG) sent it to Istana Negara as the king chairs it (the Pardons Board).

“That’s the situation… we didn’t hide anything,” Anwar had said.
