No gag order will be imposed on any component party leaders, Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin said today.
However, Muhyiddin reminded all PN leaders to make sure facts are checked before issuing statements.
This came amid the latest controversy triggered by PAS Perak commissioner Razman Zakaria's claims against Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh.
“No such thing as a gag order but I expect PN members to ensure that when they speak, they get the facts checked and (these statements) should not create unnecessary problems.
“I am not taking sides. Furthermore, in this Chinese New Year season, we must emphasise national unity and better understanding among different races in Malaysia," the Bersatu president told reporters at the Gerakan annual Chinese New Year celebration in Kuala Lumpur.
“It is time Malaysians come together again and this country is for all, as long as we are Malaysian citizens, we should respect each other’s sentiments,” he added.
Legal suit threats
On Monday, Razman apologised to Yeoh and retracted his claim made during a recent ceramah, that the Segambut MP is the “daughter of YTL”, referring to YTL Corporation Berhad’s founder Yeoh Tiong Lay.
Despite Razman’s apology, Yeoh said Razman should wait for a letter from her lawyer because the PAS leader had also made other alleged defamatory allegations against her in the same speech.
Earlier today, Razman filed a police report against a parody Facebook account "Harakat Daily HD", which claimed that he defended his accusation against Yeoh.
