Loke and Nga reaffirm alliance, vow to build strong and clean DAP

As DAP gears up for its highly anticipated central executive committee (CEC) election, its secretary-general Anthony Loke and party vice chairperson Nga Kor Ming have reaffirmed their alliance.

Nga took to social media late last night, posting in both Chinese and Bahasa Melayu, accompanied by a photograph of himself and Loke dining together to celebrate Chinese New Year.

The image sent a clear political message - two of the party’s key powerhouses remain firmly aligned.

‘One heart, one voice, one soul’

Reflecting on their long-standing friendship, Nga recalled how he and Loke had fought side by side in DAP’s youth wing for many years.

He said although their roles have evolved over time, their bond remains unshaken, and he has continued to support Loke since the latter assumed the secretary-general post.

“The roles may change, but what remains constant is our true friendship and spirit of solidarity. One heart, one voice, one soul.

“During this CNY dinner gathering, we reached an important consensus - to jointly build a DAP that is united, strong, stable, clean, and committed to meritocracy in the face of challenges brought by a new era and an evolving political landscape.

“We will mobilise every organisation we can, unite every force available, stay true to our original aspirations, and remain steadfast in our mission. With unwavering commitment, determination, and passion, we will forge a ‘golden decade’ for all Malaysians,” Nga added.

The housing and local government minister’s post sparked an outpouring of support, with several key DAP leaders - including Teo Nie Ching, Kelvin Yii, Jenny Choy, and Angeline Koo - leaving comments and echoing the sentiment with the hashtag #StrongerTogether.

Guan Eng’s influence waning?

The DAP CEC election is set to take place on March 16. Under the party’s electoral system, delegates will first elect 30 members into the CEC, who will then determine key leadership positions.

However, the most closely watched aspect of this election is undoubtedly the fate of party chairperson Lim Guan Eng.
