Sabah Bersatu today urged the MACC and all relevant authorities to act swiftly and decisively over the alleged corruption scandal in the state.

The state party’s leadership decided in a meeting chaired by party vice-president Ronald Kiandee on Friday that any delay to the probe would be unacceptable.

“Any excuse to delay the investigation is completely unacceptable,” said newly appointed Sabah Bersatu state secretary Yunus Nurdin in a statement.

On Thursday (Feb 13), MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki said the MACC cannot conduct a thorough probe into the scandal due to a lack of information.

He told Astro Awani that this was due to the whistleblower’s unwillingness to share the videos showing his purported conversations with the elected representatives.

“What has been published (in Malaysiakini) is ‘terlalu sedikit’ (too little),” Azam said.

‘Govt failing to address issues’

Yunus went on to demand that the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition take responsibility and resolve issues of electricity disruptions, clean water supply, and badly damaged roads.

He claimed these issues have become increasingly critical over the past two years.

“At the same time, Sabah Bersatu leadership also feels the pulse of the people who are burdened and tormented by the rising cost of living, which is soaring especially in the state of Sabah, which the government has failed to address effectively,” he said.

Besides that, he revealed that the Friday meeting had made new appointments to the Sabah Bersatu leadership.

They are Lim Ting Kai as treasurer, Suhaimi Buang as information chief, Rahimah Majid as women’s chief, and Nabila Norsahar as young women’s chief.
