Sabah Umno confirms no electoral pact with Warisan

Sabah Umno information chief Suhaimi Nasir said there have been no official agreements with Warisan over seat allocations in the upcoming state election.

Suhaimi said Sabah Umno has not made any decision to ally itself with any parties in the state so far.

Viral reports that say otherwise are the product of speculation and that official announcements will be made through appropriate channels, he added.

“In facing any possibilities, Sabah Umno is prepared with its own strategy.

“Sabah Umno is confident that with the people’s trust and the party’s experience in managing the welfare and development of the state, Sabah Umno will continue to be the main choice of voters throughout Sabah,” he said.

He was responding to Warisan deputy president Darell Leiking, who earlier today denied having reached an understanding with Sabah Umno.

Darell said the Warisan supreme council and political bureau had not heard any proposals or discussions for cooperation with other parties.

According to Bernama, a news portal yesterday reported Warisan and Sabah BN as having discussed a compromise for the state poll.

It claimed that both parties had agreed to not contest against each other in 50 of the 73 state seats.
