Ex-PM Ismail Sabri collapses, admitted to hospital

Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, 65, was sent to the hospital after he collapsed at his house in Damansara early morning today.

According to his son Nashriq, the incident happened at about 2.30am when Ismail Sabri suddenly fell while walking to the kitchen.

"We were hanging out, having a light conversation at home when my father stood up to grab some food.

"He started walking but seemed unsteady before suddenly collapsing," Nashriq told Malaysiakini.

Nashriq, who is also Bera Umno Youth chief, said his father regained consciousness soon after but was very weak.

Together with Ismail Sabri's security escort, Nashriq then brought his father to the hospital and he is recuperating.

Nashriq also refuted claims that Ismail Sabri had a heart attack. The incident was suspected to be caused by high blood pressure.

"My father is more stable now, and he is resting in the hospital," he said.
