Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has failed in his bid to wrestle the Machang Bersatu division chief post.

Malaysiakini learned that incumbent division chief Kamaruddin Ab Kadir had successfully defended his seat during the party election earlier today.

Kamaruddin, also known as Cikgu Din, received a total of 103 votes while Wan Fayhsal (above), 26.

The result was confirmed by Bersatu Election Committee secretary Amirul Fahmi Mohd Mazlan Kushairi when contacted this evening.

"It's true," he said in a text message.

Bersatu is holding its divisional-level election for the 2024-2027 leadership term.

When contacted, Kamaruddin expressed his appreciation to the division members for their continuous support.

"I see that the supporters continue to defend 'orang lama' (old guards) who work sincerely for the party.

"This shows that party members need leaders who fight for them selflessly and are ready to work for the rakyat," he said.
