Bersih tells DAP, MCA to emulate signage debate zeal for Najib, Sabah scandal

Bersih deputy chairperson Wong Yan Ke has called on DAP and MCA to state their positions on former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak’s case and the Sabah corruption scandal.

While heavily arguing over the Petaling Street signboard controversy, Wong (above) urged the parties to apply the same level of scrutiny to corruption issues.

“It’s regrettable that both DAP and MCA are fixated on the Petaling Street signboard issue. Yet, when it comes to corruption or anti-graft matters, these parties fail to respond with equal urgency.

“These DAP MPs, state assemblypersons, and MCA politicians - can you use the same energy when discussing corruption cases? Can you criticise these issues with the same intensity, instead of just arguing there?” he questioned at a press conference yesterday.

Wong further pressed DAP and MCA politicians, as well as other party leaders, to clarify their stance on corruption-related cases.

“We want to see you contribute to nation-building, not just engage in online bickering. Your stance on corruption must be consistent.

“DAP used to speak out boldly - so why are you now silent on the Sabah corruption scandal and Najib’s house arrest issue? Where do you stand?

“Stop the online quarrels. The signboard issue should be settled. Focus on anti-corruption efforts and work towards national progress instead of debating non-constructive matters.”
