MACC questioned Ismail Sabri before he was hospitalised - report
The MACC had questioned former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob at its headquarters for five hours on Feb 18, several days before he collapsed at home and was hospitalised for blood pressure-related matters.
The New Straits Times today reported that the Bera MP was questioned in connection with an investigation into government spending on the “Keluarga Malaysia” promotional campaign during his 14-month tenure.

The New Straits Times today reported that the Bera MP was questioned in connection with an investigation into government spending on the “Keluarga Malaysia” promotional campaign during his 14-month tenure.
According to the report, Ismail Sabri is expected to be recalled for further questioning, and that initial information had led to investigators identifying four of his former aides as persons of interest who needed to be questioned.
On Feb 23, a day after Ismail Sabri was admitted, it was reported that four officers linked to him were remanded - three held for five days starting Friday, while the fourth was remanded for three days and released on Feb 23.
It was also reported that an MACC raid at a residence belonging to one of Ismail Sabri’s ex-staff members uncovered more than RM100 million in cash and valuables, including jewellery, stashed in bags and safes in several rooms.
Previously, the MACC said that it was unable to disclose any findings, including the value of any money or assets seized, but it did not rule out the possibility of calling additional witnesses to assist in the investigation.
The investigation is being carried out under Section 16A of the MACC Act 2009 and The Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
