MACC's date with Ismail Sabri postponed again – report

Former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s second questioning by the MACC has reportedly been postponed again, this time until March 13.

The MACC was originally slated to question the Bera MP again yesterday, but was postponed until tomorrow for health reasons.

According to the New Straits Times, however, tomorrow’s questioning has been called off after Ismail Sabri submitted another medical chit from his doctor until March 12.

The report claimed that the MACC will instead speak to the doctor tomorrow to get a clearer picture of the former premier’s condition and ensure he will be fit to give his statement on the new date, which is the day after the period stated in the MC.

The MACC had already questioned Ismail Sabri for five hours on Feb 18, as part of its probe into government spending on the “Keluarga Malaysia” promotional campaign.

It had also confiscated RM170 million in various currencies and 16kg of gold from the homes and “safehouses” of four of Ismail Sabri’s former aides.

A few days after the first round of questioning, however, Ismail Sabri reportedly collapsed at his home and was hospitalised.

A day later, on Feb 23, his daughter Nina Sabrina said her father was “stable and getting better”, while his press secretary Azran Fitri Rahim was quoted as saying Ismail Sabri’s blood pressure was slightly elevated.
