Zamri Vinoth believes he does not need to be remorseful for his remarks about the Kavadi ritual as the Muslim preacher said he was only stating facts.

This is over his act of reposting a Facebook post claiming that even Hindus say those performing the Kavadi ritual "dance" are like those who are drunk or possessed.

Meta removed the post on Sunday, however, Zamri reposted it later that night, prompting outrage from Jelutong MP RSN Rayer.

"Why do I need to feel remorse if my posting does not insult anyone?

"I suggest Rayer take the July (SPM) Bahasa Malaysia exam.

"I only stated facts and truth. No court has decided that what I wrote insulted anyone nor has there been a ruling telling me to remove the post," he said in a post late last night.

He added that the country follows the law, not "what Rayer orders".

MCMC had ordered the removal of Zamri's original post for contravening Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, which among others, regulates inflammatory postings.

The post was in response to a video involving three Era FM radio announcers showing one of them dancing while another chanted “vel vel” - often heard during Thaipusam when a person is bearing a kavadi.
