Rodziah up for rematch against Fadhlina for PKR Women chief post

Another face-off for the PKR Women chief position is expected with incumbent Fadhlina Sidek and former challenger Rodziah Ismail stating their intentions to run in the upcoming party polls.

Rodziah (above, right) last night announced that she would once again take on Fadhlina for the post, in a bid to strengthen the party preparation for the upcoming Sabah polls and the 16th general election.

“The leadership of women in PKR requires true political leadership, not just leadership for programmes or ordinary matters.

“If we are committed to politics, we must empower more women who have political awareness, are capable of addressing current issues, and can encompass diverse backgrounds to advance the wing’s agenda,” the Ampang MP was quoted as saying by Berita Harian at a press conference after officiating her constituency’s Women’s Day Celebration.

Also present was PKR Women deputy chief Juwairiya Zulkifli who announced that she will be defending her position for a second term.

May 24 showdown

Previously, Rodziah noted that PKR Women, under Fadhlina’s leadership, was a little lethargic and could stand to improve.

Fadhlina was the first to announce her decision to defend her position last week.

In the 2022 PKR polls, Fadhlina bagged 18,923 votes while Rodziah received 18,891.

The PKR central election is scheduled for May 24, while divisional polls will be held from April 11 to 20.
