M'sia condemns Israel over Gaza attacks which killed over 300

Malaysia strongly condemns Israel's airstrikes and artillery attacks against Gaza earlier today, unilaterally ending the ceasefire agreement, said the Foreign Ministry today.

It said the attacks killed more than 300 people in the Palestinian territory.

“This latest wave of attacks by the Zionist regime also targeted Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen which have also killed and wounded civilians, including children and aid workers.

“This blatant aggression by Israel only indicates that the regime has no interest in peace with its neighbours.

“Instead, the Israeli regime is bent on violating international law, United Nations resolutions, and ongoing peace efforts,” said the ministry in a statement.

It added that “continuing indiscriminate murder of civilians, including children, women, and humanitarian aid workers, constitutes war crimes, genocide and ethnic cleansing.”

“Israel’s acts of aggression against sovereign nations are a threat to global peace and security.

“Malaysia calls on the international community and the UN Security Council to protect civilians and end this impunity by holding Israel fully accountable for its persistent violations of international law,” the ministry said.

Aid workers killed

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim strongly condemned the killing of eight humanitarian workers from the Malaysian Consultative Council for Islamic Organisations (Mapim) in an airstrike in Gaza last Saturday.

He said the government had also officially issued a strong protest against the ongoing violence in Gaza and other parts of Palestine.

"We strongly condemn the killing and atrocities against Mapim volunteers, who were on a humanitarian mission, assisting patients and others in need.

"The government has officially lodged a strong protest against the continued violence," he told reporters after chairing a Special Penang Development Meeting at the Penang Development Corporation office today.

Yesterday, Mapim chief executive officer Sani Araby Abdul Alim confirmed that the eight Palestinian workers were martyred in the attack, which occurred at 1.30pm local time in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza.

The airstrike took place as the workers were setting up tents for families who had lost their homes due to continuous attacks by the Zionist regime.

The victims were identified as Mahmoud Yahya Al-Sarraj, Bilal Hossam Oqeila, Mahmoud Samir Oselim, Mahmoud Khaled Oselim, Mohammed Al-Ghafeer, Hazem Ghareeb, Bilal Abu Matar and Ahmad Hamad.
