Summary
Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari says his administration is committed to finding a comprehensive solution to flash floods in certain localities in the state.
This is after a group of Taman Sri Muda residents chased after Amirudin all the way to Perak, where he is campaigning in a by-election, to confront him about their flooding woes.
Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari is seeking to soothe the continued anxiety and pressure faced by residents in Taman Sri Muda and other localities impacted by flash floods.
In a statement today, Amirudin said the state government is committed to finding a comprehensive solution.
“I understand the worries and anxiety of Taman Sri Muda’s residents due to flash floods.
“A long-term solution must be implemented as soon as possible, and cooperation with all quarters, including the federal government, is important to ensure that the major flood in 2021 does not repeat itself,” he said.
Amirudin said his office had been contacted by residents who feel that flood mitigation works have not been carried out with urgency.
The menteri besar added that he had ordered state infrastructure exco member Izham Hashim to address any delays to flood mitigation projects in the state, be it by local councils, the state, or the federal government.

Amirudin’s assurances came as a group of residents from Taman Sri Muda chased after him in Ayer Kuning, Perak, where the menteri besar is stumping for BN in the local by-election today.
The residents claimed that three new water pumps worth millions of ringgit installed by the state government last year failed to function when needed and caused the area to be flooded twice this year.
They have warned that if their worries were not addressed, they would organise a mass protest.
