Despite being questioned numerous times over asset declaration, the investigation into former premier Ismail Sabri Yaakob was still at its preliminary stages, revealed MACC.
Its chief commissioner, Azam Baki, said that the investigation is only about 10 to 20 percent complete, adding that the Bera MP will be undergoing further rounds of questioning.
“MACC will summon him again in about two weeks because we had requested several documents from him. The case is ongoing, and as I’ve mentioned earlier, it involves asset declaration.
“As such, the process takes time because the individual slapped with the notice must declare the source of the asset and it must satisfy MACC as the investigating agency,” Bernama reported him as saying today.

Azam said this after attending the Southeast Asia Anti-Corruption Conference in Putrajaya today.
Verification process
He stressed that it is important to verify the asset declaration.
“If it was found invalid or insufficient, we can take further action,” Azam added.
Ismail Sabri is being investigated under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
It is understood that the probe is related to the expenditure and procurement of funds for promotional and publicity activities, under the Keluarga Malaysia initiative, during his tenure as prime minister, from August 2021 to November 2022.
On March 3, Azam said the Umno leader was a suspect in the probe, following the discovery of approximately RM170 million in various currencies and 16kg of gold bars in a safehouse during a MACC raid.
The HolyBook say in Hadith 2313 "The curse of Allah is upon the one who offers a bribe and the one who takes it." Sobri is covered. He did not take it nor give it. The cash mountain grew through the miracle of compounding interest. The only question that remains is how was ringgit converted into millions of Sing$, Aussie$, US$, Yen, Bullion bars. Does compounding interest converts to foreign currency? The true miracle of economics happens right before our eyes.
