Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan has denied the existence of a rift within the police top brass.

"So far there's none. There is a difference of opinions. Is the difference of opinions considered a rift?" asked Musa at a packed press conference at the sidelines of the 14th Malaysian Law Conference today.

Musa was asked the question following strong hints by Commercial Crimes Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Ramli Yusuff's that his department was being victimised due to its action against an underworld kingpin.

Musa said that he had met Ramli - one of the country's top cops - but the police chief refused to comment on the on-going investigations against the latter.

Asked if he believed that all his men were "behind him", Musa said: "I think they are. But I don't want to comment on anything (further)."

Musa had earlier claimed that he was being framed by his own men in the explosive allegation that he received RM2 million to free three gangsters. An ACA investigation has subsequently cleared him of the bribery charges.

Ramli is currently investigated by the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) over allegations that he had undeclared assets of RM27 million.

He had called for a press conference today to deny the allegation and also made damning allegations against the ACA for compromising the identities of police informants.

Musa's press conference today was held after he delivered his speech 'The Way Forward' during a session at the conference titled "200 years of policing and 50 years of independence - the Royal Malaysian Police experience".

To a question from the floor during his speech, Musa said that he was informed that the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission bill would be sent to Parliament soon.
