A former shop assistant was slapped with the maximum fine of RM100 for insulting behaviour by the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate’s Court today.
Nurul Hidayah Yusuf, 23, pleaded guilty to humiliating a woman by displaying her face before and after applying make-up during a live broadcast on TikTok.
Magistrate Farah Nabihah Muhamad Dan meted out the fine on Nurul Hidayah, who humiliated another 23-year-old woman.
She placed a picture of the victim as the background image of a live broadcast on TikTok and compared the victim’s face before and after applying make-up without permission.
The offence, provided under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, was committed at a condominium in Sentul at 10.51am on April 5.
Based on the facts of the case, the victim found out about the incident after receiving a screen recording of the live broadcast from her friend via WhatsApp.
Feeling humiliated and embarrassed by the comparison, the victim filed a police report.
Deputy public prosecutor Amritpreet Kaur Randhawa appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented.
