  • Saifuddin Nasution Ismail urges Anwar Ibrahim to console PKR members following a heated election campaign.

  • Saifuddin emphasises Anwar's responsibility as a “father” to all PKR members, not just his daughter Nurul Izzah.

As the PKR national congress sets to end, Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has reminded party president Anwar Ibrahim of a great responsibility that lies ahead.

Taking the stage in a “surprise” appearance as party leaders take turns to deliver their winding-up speeches, Saifuddin said Anwar has a duty to console any unhappiness arising from the heated PKR election campaign.

“There are those here who attended Nurul Izzah Anwar’s campaign, there are others who attended Rafizi Ramli’s. There will be ‘burning’ hearts.

“So Datuk Seri is not only the father of Nurul Izzah, Datuk Seri is also a ‘father’ to all PKR members,” said Saifuddin, who was not initially scheduled to speak as he is not a part of the party’s top leadership.

The PKR 2025-2028 election concluded with election of Nurul Izzah as the party’s deputy president, defeating Rafizi, who did not attend the congress today.

Saifuddin, who, prior to official nominations, was speculated to challenge the deputy presidency, said he had last night chosen to accompany Rafizi in the moments after the winners were officially announced.

“While the winners were celebrating, I chose to accompany Rafizi as he stepped down from the stage. I walked him to the car - we embraced and shook hands.

“We apologised to each other, and I must honestly admit that I am afraid of losing him from our party,” said Saifuddin.
