Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari says Nurul Izzah had played a key role in the semiconductor sector from behind the scenes.
Former Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar was appointed as an adviser by the Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec).
In a statement, the Selangor GLC said she was appointed to the post as she would bring valuable insights into public policy, socio-economic development, and digital empowerment.
Also appointed as advisers were the former vice-president and former director of Taiwanese manufacturer Foxconn, Lai Yit Loong and Chiang Shang-Yi.
Lai and Chiang will serve as advisers to the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park and the Advanced Semiconductor Academy of Malaysia.
The appointments were announced at Sidec’s 10th anniversary celebration yesterday. Also present at the event was Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.
The IC Design Park is located at the Puchong Financial Corporate Centre (PFCC) and is co-developed by the federal and state governments.
The project is to boost the state’s participation in the nation’s semiconductor industry.
Commenting on Nurul Izzah’s appointment, Amirudin said the former’s experience and role in developing the nation’s semiconductor industry would be an asset in developing the sector in Selangor.
“Behind the scenes, Nurul Izzah played an important role in the semiconductor sector since last year.
“And I hope this appointment will serve as a bridge between the federal government and other parties,” Selangorkini reported him as saying.
