Sabah Harapan meeting focuses on 3 key matters

The Pakatan Harapan meeting held in Kota Kinabalu yesterday focused on three main issues in preparation for the Sabah state election, which is expected to be held soon.

Harapan secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said in the meeting, all component parties agreed on a timeline to resolve the distribution of their respective seats.

“The meeting also agreed that we will focus on the formation of a strong and stable election machinery. It must happen now, for (if we wait until) the state legislative assembly is dissolved, it will be too late,” he said.

He told reporters after the launch of the Home Ministry’s Madani Adopted Village Programme at SK Kampung Pangkalan Abai, Kota Belud, today.

Saifuddin, who chaired the meeting, said the discussions also focused on the details of the Harapan manifesto, and he was satisfied with the progress of the negotiations achieved.

He also gave an assurance that he would be coming down to Sabah to ensure that all decisions in the Harapan meeting were implemented.

Also present at the meeting were Amanah communications director Khalid Samad, Sabah Harapan chairperson Ewon Benedick, Sabah PKR state leadership council chairperson Mustapha Sakmud, Sabah DAP chairperson Phoong Jin Zhe and Sabah Amanah chairperson Lahirul Latigu.

The Sabah assembly will be automatically dissolved on Nov 11, paving the way for the 17th Sabah state election.
