Shah Alam police have arrested a freelance preacher for allegedly distributing sex videos involving himself, his wives, and several other women.

In a statement today, Shah Alam district police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said the arrest followed a police report lodged by the preacher’s second wife on June 16.

“She claimed that her husband had shared sex videos involving her, her co-wives, and other women,” he said.

According to Iqbal, police seized two mobile phones and a laptop belonging to the suspect during the arrest.

Checks on the devices allegedly revealed several sex videos involving the suspect and his wives, as well as compromising images of other women.

The suspect was remanded for four days until today and released on police bail pending completion of the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code for word or gesture intended to insult modesty, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

If convicted under Section 509, the offender faces imprisonment of up to five years, a fine, or both.

Under Section 233, the maximum penalty is a RM50,000 fine or one year in jail, or both, plus a further RM1,000 fine for each day the offence continues after conviction.

Under Section 14, the maximum fine is RM100.
