Former police station chief fined RM20k over 40 corruption charges

The former Cherating police station chief was fined RM20,000 by the Sessions Court in Kuantan, Pahang, today after pleading guilty to 40 out of 98 charges of receiving bribes three years ago.

Judge Sazlina Safie imposed a fine of RM500 for each charge on Anuar Yaakob, 56, with a one‑month jail term in default of payment for each charge. The accused, however, settled the total fine of RM20,000.
