Form 3 student 'beaten, stripped, nearly strangled' by Form 4 bullies

Bullying in schools remains a disturbing trend, with the latest case in Kelantan seeing a Form Three student allegedly beaten, stripped of his trousers, and nearly strangled with a wire.

Those behind the attack are believed to be six Form Four students.

According to Berita Harian, the victim’s aunt claimed that when the student was about to be strangled, a teacher’s timely intervention prevented the assault from escalating.

“My nephew was kicked, punched, beaten, slapped, his trousers pulled down to his knees, and his neck was nearly strangled with a wire. If the teacher had not passed by, my nephew might have died at the hands of these bullies.

“Last night, six families came to my parents’ house asking us to withdraw the case. I plead with the bullies’ families not to pressure my younger sibling into dropping the case.

“These bullies are only in Form Four, yet they can think and act in such a way. What will happen when they turn 20?” she said on Facebook.

Six students arrested

Pasir Mas district police chief Kama Azural Mohamed confirmed the incident.

He said police arrested six students aged 16, and the remand process was carried out this morning.

“I will issue a further statement later,” he added.

Earlier, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the proposal to establish a tribunal to address bullying cases involving students and children will be tabled during the cabinet meeting.

He said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Azalina Othman Said will present the proposal to the cabinet.
