MACC believes Muhyiddin's wanted son-in-law in Middle East

The MACC believes that wanted businessperson Adlan Berhan, the son-in-law of Muhyiddin Yassin, may be in a Middle Eastern country.

MACC chief Azam Baki said it has requested the Home Ministry to cancel Adlan’s (above) passport.

“We took some action yesterday, and we hope that the Home Ministry will agree to our request to cancel his passport.

“I heard that he is in a Middle Eastern country. I cannot reveal the name of the country, but it is one with which we do not have an extradition treaty,” Azam was quoted as saying by the New Straits Times today.

Initially, the MACC sought Adlan and lawyer Mansoor Saat to assist in investigating a project concerning the misappropriation of biometric registration, recruitment, and data storage of migrant workers for a government ministry.

In February last year, Azam said Adlan, who has been missing for two years, would be facing criminal breach of trust charges.

Adlan, through his lawyer, had in Aug 2023 denied being on the run from the law. He claimed to have left the country on business and promised to return to Malaysia if there were no elements of “threats and persecution”.
