About 5m wet wipes cleared from banks of Thames

A mass of congealed waste equivalent to about five million wet wipes has been cleared from the banks of the River Thames, marking the completion of a major project to remove the so-called “wet wipe island”, reported PA Media/dpa.

Last month, diggers began dredging up muddy waste that had settled along a 250m stretch of the foreshore near Hammersmith Bridge in west London.
