Kedah police deploying 30 MPVs to tackle school discipline issues

Kedah police have deployed 30 multi-purpose police vehicles (MPVs) to selected schools across the state to tackle student disciplinary issues.

State police chief Adzli Abu Shah said this is not only to address disciplinary problems, including bullying, but also to create a calm and secure school environment.

“We will patrol alongside teachers in the evenings. We want to foster a safe environment and build confidence among students. When children see uniformed police officers, they feel safer, and it deters others from causing trouble.

“With the police present, God willing, any problems can be resolved,” he told reporters after visiting Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Hosba in Jitra yesterday.

He also called on the community, especially parents, to take a greater interest in their children’s whereabouts and activities, particularly at night.

“I urge the public, especially parents, to question where their teenage children are going if they go out at night. We must revive the community spirit of the past, to be concerned about our children, to be inquisitive, and even to ask other people’s children what they are doing out so late,” he said.

He added that the police will continue to cooperate with all relevant parties, particularly the State Education Department, to tackle disciplinary issues in schools.
