Indira dismayed by 'oblivious' IGP, group confirms teddy bear heading to PMO

The highly anticipated meeting with Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Khalid Ismail turned into a disappointing affair for M Indira Gandhi, as the Indira Gandhi Action Team (Ingat) claimed that the top police officer was seemingly oblivious to their plight.

Miffed by the outcome, Ingat chairperson Arun Dorasamy said they have no choice but to march to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to seek redress, as the group had earlier warned.

He claimed that the meeting only showed that the police were not serious in finding Indira’s youngest daughter, Prasana Diksa, as the police displayed no interest or serious initiative to do so.

“Our final attempt is to work with the police (but) now, we do not have a trusting relationship.

“(So) I have no other choice but to take it to the PMO, by marching to the PMO during the cabinet meeting,” he told reporters outside Bukit Aman police headquarters today.

Earlier, Indira and Arun met Khalid in an attempt to get the police to locate Prasana, who was taken away by her ex-husband, Riduan Abdullah, over a decade ago.

Also present during the meeting was Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) M Kulasegaran.

Elaborating, Arun deemed the meeting “too casual”, so much so that he did not even have a place to put his files.

He added that Kulasegaran, who was present for the first half of the meeting, was the one who briefed the IGP on the case.

“The media knows more about this case than the IGP… this is not an understatement.

“It’s really saddening. I will do my level best to work with the police, but they have to come forward and show some seriousness (to investigate) before we can do anything,” he said, claiming the one-hour meeting led to nowhere.

Giving ‘lame excuses’

Arun added that despite Khalid’s assurance that the investigation was progressing, including detecting Riduan utilising the Budi95 subsidy at eight different locations, they were told the authorities could not get the wanted man’s visuals due to lapses in the CCTV recordings.

Referring to the excuses as lame, Arun said the IGP could not even explain how Riduan had managed to utilise the RM100 one-off Rahmah Necessities Aid (Sara).

“Kulasegaran told the IGP that if Prasana is found by a private investigator before the police, then the authorities will lose face.

“All the assurances, with just lip service, are great. The hospitality (today), the food they serve is great… But other than that, their answer was not that great. The answer was very insulting to us,’ Arun added.

On Nov 22, around 200 people marched from the Sogo Shopping Complex in the city centre to Bukit Aman in an attempt to compel the police to locate Prasana and reunite her with Indra.

The crowd walked with Indira, who brought a stroller with Prasana’s teddy bear, which she had planned to deliver to Khalid.

However, Khalid did not show up, leaving the crowd vowing not to leave the area until the IGP met with Indira.

After waiting for about four hours, the crowd dispersed following Kulasegaran’s intervention, who promised to get Indira an appointment with Khalid within a few weeks.
