PN supreme council meeting cancelled, leaders to meet at Muhyiddin's home

Perikatan Nasional's supreme council has called off its meeting scheduled for this Thursday, which was called to discuss the resignation of its chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin and possibly appoint his successor.

This was based on information furnished by multiple sources from PN component parties.

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, when contacted, confirmed the matter.

“It has been changed to a pre-council meeting at Muhyiddin’s residence,” he said without elaborating further.

It has yet to be ascertained what led to the cancellation of the meeting, which was supposed to take place at Gerakan headquarters in Cheras at 8pm on Thursday.

However, according to a supposed copy of the meeting cancellation notice, which has gone viral on social media, Muhyiddin had allegedly sent out a separate invitation to the presidents of PN component parties for a pre-council meeting at his house.

PN deputy secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan has confirmed to Malaysiakini that the notice is genuine.

Malaysiakini has also reached out to Muhyiddin's office for comment.

Notice sent out

On Friday, Takiyuddin, who is also PAS secretary-general, sent out a notice to all PN supreme council members summoning them for an extraordinary meeting to discuss Muhyiddin's resignation.

Should the meeting decide to accept it, the council was supposed to move to its next agenda, which is to decide who they want as the coalition’s new chief.

However, Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz claimed the notice had violated PN's constitution as it did not invite Muhyiddin.

The Bersatu leader argued that despite Muhyiddin's recent resignation from the post, he was still considered as PN chairperson until the decision received the supreme council's nod and is thus still a part of the council.
