Rafizi believes Chin has proof against PKR MP, vows to expose 'Mr R'

Rafizi Ramli believes businessperson Victor Chin must have concrete evidence of the alleged RM9.5 million payment to a PKR lawmaker, or he would not have dared issue such an ultimatum.

In a brief video posted on YouTube last night, the former PKR deputy president suggested Chin may have recorded his conversation with the MP, whom he has given until Monday (March 30) to return the money or be publicly named.

“When the person trusted by the PKR MP collected the money on his behalf, there is a possibility that there is evidence in the form of photographs or video recordings.

“If not, Chin would not have the courage to issue such an ultimatum,” he emphasised.

Rafizi outlined two possible outcomes: Chin could name the MP on March 30, or the matter could fizzle out, implying the money has been returned.

The Pandan MP was responding to PKR vice-president R Ramanan, who denied that he was the MP mentioned by Chin, arguing that he had never met the businessperson who is at the centre of the “corporate mafia” scandal.

Meanwhile, Rafizi also promised to disclose the identity of the “Mr R” mentioned by Chin as acting as the middleperson for the alleged corporate mafia.

He also pointed out that the public is confused, with many assuming that “Mr R” and the PKR MP are the same person.

Alleged bid to takeover company

On Tuesday, Chin claimed that Mr R, who is a company director, acted as a key intermediary for the gang.

He detailed a chronology of events showing how he and his partners faced threats and intimidation in a bid to “hijack” listed IT solutions provider NexG Berhad.

He said they faced repeated demands to “deliver shares”, following instructions from Mr R and the so-called corporate mafia.

Chin said he had frequent urgent contact with Mr R while the gang allegedly pressured NexG’s board to appoint their nominee directors.

As for the PKR MP, the businessperson claimed that the lawmaker had requested RM10 million - of which RM9.5 million was reportedly paid - to resolve Chin’s legal troubles.

‘Mostly attacking me’

Meanwhile, Rafizi also pointed out that Ramanan spent more time attacking him during his press conference than addressing Chin’s allegations.

“The press conference was about 25 minutes, 10 minutes was about Chin, and the rest was about Ramanan deriding me,” he added.

Ramanan had accused Rafizi of backing claims linking him to the RM9.5 million payment, allegedly weaponising cybertroopers to spread the allegation.

He claimed that the former economy minister harboured an “evil agenda to split the party”.
