Corporate mafia: Chin files suit against Bestinet founder

Businessperson Victor Chin has announced that he is suing Bestinet Sdn Bhd founder Aminul Islam Abdul Nor over allegations related to the “corporate mafia” controversy.

Checks on the court’s e-Filing system show that the case is slated for case management before a Kuala Lumpur High Court deputy registrar on May 5.

Malaysiakini has contacted Aminul for comment and is withholding details of the allegations pending a response.

Meanwhile, Chin expressed confidence that there is sufficient proof to show that he is not part of the alleged corporate mafia network, and urged authorities to investigate and clear his name.

“The allegations made against me were conscious attempts to mislead the authorities and the public to paint me as the scapegoat when I am, in fact, a victim as well,” he said in a statement today.

He added that he is professionally bound to strict standards of confidentiality and is unable to divulge client information and internal matters, despite various allegations being circulated.

However, he said he would disclose all relevant information if required to do so under a “proper legal framework”, including a royal commission of inquiry.

“It is only through such a formal process that I am able, and obligated, to share in full and in detail what I know,” he said.

Chin’s statement today is his first since the March 30 deadline for a purported PKR MP to return RM9.5 million allegedly taken as a service fee to cease attacks from the “corporate mafia”.

He had previously threatened to reveal the MP’s identity if payment was not made on March 30.

However, the latest statement did not address the issue, including whether any money had been returned.
