Former economy minister Rafizi Ramli has been summoned by the MACC to aid in a probe involving the RM1.1 billion government deal with British semiconductor company Arm Holdings.
In a social media post today, Rafizi said he received a notice from the MACC calling on him to provide his statement at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya next Monday (May 4).
“I expect that after my statements are recorded next week, I may be charged with criminal breach of trust on the grounds of providing false information, or causing the cabinet to sign (the deal with Arm) in haste,” the Pandan MP wryly said.
“God willing, I am prepared with my team of lawyers.
“It will be a long and interesting trial, because many top national leaders will be called as witnesses: from the prime minister, to the deputy prime ministers, to ministers,” he added.

Earlier this week, Rafizi’s former aide James Chai completed giving his statement to the graft busters as part of the same investigation.
Yesterday, on the third day of the procedure at the MACC, Chai only left the anti-graft agency’s compound after 11 hours.

It was previously reported that the investigation followed complaints from several NGOs alleging that the agreement was hastily arranged and biased, and could have financial implications for the government.
Rafizi, however, characterised the probe as a form of intimidation linked with his demand for the suspension of MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki.
The call, similarly voiced by various other quarters, came after Azam was implicated in a shareholding scandal, as well as allegations that MACC officers had colluded with private individuals to strong-arm business rivals and stage corporate takeovers.
