Diesel

  • The Finance Ministry announced that subsidised diesel will be available for eligible Malaysians at RM2.10 per litre starting July.

    In a statement today, the ministry said the subsidy will be implemented through the same approach as the Budi95 petrol subsidy, which requires a MyKad.

    More information will be provided by Finance Minister II Amir Hamzah Azizan tomorrow, it added. 

MA63

  • The handover of regulatory authority over Bintulu Port to the Sarawak government is a major milestone under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), according to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak) Mustapha Sakmud.

    He described the move as part of ongoing efforts to implement MA63 through cooperation between the federal government and Sarawak.

    Bernama reported him saying that the transfer reflects recognition of Sarawak’s role as a founding partner of Malaysia and is intended to benefit both the state and federal levels.

    He said the change also strengthens rather than weakens federal relations by giving greater acknowledgement to the rights and potential of Sabah and Sarawak.

Cybersecurity

  • The National Security Council (NSC) has dismissed viral claims of a fresh personal data breach, saying the material being circulated online is not linked to any current system or platform.

    Bernama reported the agency as saying that the data appears to come from older cyber incidents, believed to have occurred before 2022, which have since been illegally redistributed.

    The NSC, via the National Cyber Security Agency, said that the information was likely obtained through past hacking incidents involving various systems and is now being reshared without permission.

    Authorities stressed that possessing or sharing such unlawfully obtained data is an offence under Malaysian law, regardless of where it is hosted.

    Officials also cautioned the public against accessing or using platforms offering leaked data, warning that such behaviour fuels cybercrime and violates the law.
