• An aide to Parti Bersama Malaysia co-leader Rafizi Ramli has questioned the “double standard” in the policy of using school venues for political campaigns after the party was barred twice from using school halls for fundraising.

  In an X post, Farhan Iqbal said that the school, in cancelling the venue booking, told him that “school halls are not allowed to be used for such events, in accordance with instructions from the District Education Office and the ministry”.

  “But when parties in government hold fundraising events in school halls, it is somehow allowed? If that is the rule, then apply it equally,” Farhan added.

  He also shared a poster of a scheduled DAP fundraising dinner at a school, pointing out the contradiction.

  Rafizi said on Friday that a Bersama fundraiser had to change venue from SJKC Wangsa Maju to SJKC Chung Kwo despite the school initially approving the booking.

Public health

• Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad said police data up to April showed 402 cases involving vape devices and liquids that were found to be mixed with dangerous synthetic drugs.

  Substances such as benzodiazepines, nimetazepam, MDMA, cannabinoids, tetrahydrocannabinol and methamphetamine in vape products are illegal and especially worrying when they involve underage users, Dzulkefly (above) was reported as saying by Bernama last night.

  This evidence provides a strong justification for the government to consider banning vape use, though a final decision is still under government consideration, he added.
