Sandakan video
Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan questioned the Home Ministry’s response to queries regarding a 2019 video scandal that implicated then-cabinet minister Azmin Ali.
In particular, Wan Saiful took issue with Deputy Home Minister Shamsul Anuar Nasarah’s explanation in Parliament today that investigations into the video remain ongoing, including efforts to trace the original recording as well as all devices and equipment used.
Wan Saiful, who has since been expelled from Bersatu, questioned why such material is needed if the nation’s security forces have already invested in “buying high-end technology”.
In a Facebook post, he cautioned that a lack of clear resolution for such high-profile cases will impact the public’s perception of enforcement agencies’ fairness and transparency.

Fuel subsidy
The Land Public Transport Transformation Association has called on the government to establish separate fuel subsidy mechanisms for personal consumption and e-hailing operations to ensure a fairer and more targeted implementation of the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) initiative.

Its president M Nathan said the first 200 litres of fuel allocated under Budi95 should remain as a subsidy for Malaysians’ personal use and be excluded from any subsidy mechanism for e-hailing operations.
Bernama reported Nathan as saying that some full-time e-hailing drivers may require more than the 800-litre allocation, although he said most drivers have enough.
He proposed introducing an e-hailing fleet card as a dedicated subsidy mechanism, with an additional quota of up to 800 litres for e-hailing operations, separate from the 200 litres.
Nathan also urged the government to impose a full moratorium on annual and daily e-hailing insurance premiums until a fairer, more transparent and sustainable premium mechanism is established.
