Lawsuits

  • Kedah Menteri Besar Sanusi Nor issued a letter of demand to Housing and Local Government Minister and DAP deputy chairperson Nga Kor Ming today, with another legal notice expected to be served on former DAP assemblyperson Marina Ibrahim tomorrow.

Noting that another letter was also issued to one Salim Abd Rahman, Sanusi accused the trio of manipulating statements he had made while on the campaign trail for the Negeri Sembilan election.

Affirming that those served with the letters will be given seven days to apologise before he initiates legal action via his lawyers, Sanusi told reporters in Alor Setar today that he has more names on his list of those who could be hit with legal repercussions.

Transport

  • A total of 46 accidents and 11 deaths have been linked to a large gathering of motorcyclists at the Gong Badak Motor Racing Circuit in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu, between July 30 and Aug 2.

Of these, Bukit Aman Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department said 11 accidents involving the RXZ Members 8.0 event were fatal, five were serious, and 30 were minor. All cases are being investigated under the Road Transport Act 1987 and the relevant traffic rules.

“Among the factors identified as contributing to accidents are negligence, failure to control the vehicle, following too closely, and unsafe riding that can endanger oneself and other road users,” Bernama quoted the department’s director Hasbullah Ali as saying.

The event reportedly drew 200,000 fans of the Yamaha RXZ motorcycle.
