- The National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) signed a memorandum of understanding with Batik Air yesterday.
According to a Bernama report, the agreement grants the union travel benefits that include corporate rates, specific discounts including for students and complimentary tickets.
NUTP president Aminuddin Awang said the initiative adds value for the union’s 230,000 members while also opening avenues to expand networking with the private sector.

Wonderful. Congrats. On another note, I wonder why our teachers are now called guru penolong (their professional job is to educate children and not assistant to another teacher) instead of guru akademik (that is what they are supposed to do)? Sounds degrading doesn't it? Many teachers, including the ones teaching in prasekolah, have masters and Phd. Is it a standard change for the whole country - like doctors are now called doctor penolong, jurutera penolong, vetenari penolong? Or is it only for teachers, perhaps because our performance in TIMSS & PISA is regressing?
