Former Dewan Negara senator Rais Yatim is set to be charged with sedition at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court today over remarks concerning the Negeri Sembilan royal institution.
Sinar Harian reported that the charge is believed to be linked to the proclamation of Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja'afar as the 12th Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan at a ceremony in Malacca on June 5.
Rais had commented on the royal institution’s position and the Attorney-General’s Chambers’ (AGC) involvement in the ongoing royal dispute.
In July, two Negeri Sembilan orders of chivalry conferred on Rais were revoked with immediate effect on the orders of Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

PAS has yet to decide which logo it will use in the coming Malacca state election following the suspension of Perikatan Nasional.
PAS and PN election director Sanusi Nor (below) said the matter would be discussed at the party’s central working committee meeting, which is expected to be held soon, Free Malaysia Today reported.

The Kedah menteri besar also appeared unfazed by the possibility of PN being unable to use its logo, saying it would not matter if Pakatan Harapan was PAS’ main rival in the polls.
“If we’re contesting against Harapan, even (candidates contesting under) a slipper logo would get more votes,” he joked.
The Registrar of Societies recently deregistered PN, a day after giving the coalition 30 days to respond to a complaint lodged by Bersatu.
