The recently axed Negeri Sembilan exco members will be questioned by police today.

This is believed to be over the statement they issued, supporting a disputed proclamation dethroning Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir as state ruler.

The meeting with cops comes after the former exco members - who had their appointments revoked by Tuanku Muhriz for disloyalty - and other BN and Perikatan Nasional assemblypersons met with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi last night.

Also present at the meeting was embattled Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim.

Not much has been said about the meeting. However, state Umno chief Jalaluddin Alias was reported as saying last night that the core of the discussion was that the Negeri Sembilan government must continue to function as usual for the well-being and interests of the people.

He also said that there will be an approach to make this happen when Ismail is the sole state leadership member.

“There are various methods that can be used, and surely the menteri besar has a certain formula to mobilise the government machinery so that the agenda for the people’s interests can continue,” Jalaluddin was quoted as saying by Bernama last night.

Jalaluddin's (above) remarks, as well as Zahid saying yesterday noon that Ismail was the only "official" member of the state government - appear to signal that, at least for now, BN will not continue to challenge exco appointments being revoked after it was gazetted.

If so, it may also mean that BN has acknowledged that state secretary Zafir Ibrahim and state legal adviser Muzalmah Mustapha Kamal are still in office despite earlier attempts to suspend them from their roles.
