The government today unveiled an ambitious RM20 million plan to help children below six-years-old develop creativity.

"The cabinet has agreed for the pilot project to implemented next year in every state. Twenty million ringgit has been approved by the cabinet for the project," Najib Razak, deputy prime minister, who will head the project, told reporters.

"It is not formal education but it will be in a way that can instill imagination and creativity, making them more forward thinking in the future," he added, without elaborating.

Najib said a similar concept was carried out in some countries and the children under the programme have been proven to have sharper minds and achieve better academic results.

"They are also emotionally and psychologically more mature," he said.
