The perpetrators in the murder of former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Abdul Rahman Hashim have been charged in the court and sentenced to death, Parliament was told today.

In a written reply, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said that the criminals were also involved in the murder of former Perak police chief Khoo Chong Kong.

He was responding to a query from Karpal Singh (DAP-Bukit Gelugor) who asked the Internal Security Minister for an update on the matter.

Abdullah, who is also the Internal Security Minister explained that Abdul Rahman was shot dead by two men near Lee Yan Lian building in Jalan Tun Perak in Kuala Lumpur on June 7, 1974.

"In that incident, 11 shots were released and seven of them hit Abdul Rahman on his shoulder, chest and right thigh," he said, adding that Abdul Rahman died on his way to Kuala Lumpur General Hospital.
