Apandi loses defamation case
One of the most controversial moments in Mohamed Apandi Ali's tenure as the attorney-general was his decision to clear Najib Abdul Razak of wrongdoing in the 1MDB scandal.
All this was while holding up a chart that actually showed money from a former 1MDB subsidiary flowing into the ex-prime minister's bank account.
Apandi maintained that he made the right call, and even sued DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang for suggesting that the decision was improper.
However, Apandi yesterday lost his defamation suit against Lim.
The High Court in Kuala Lumpur said Lim was justified in raising the issue, especially following Najib’s conviction in 2020 for money laundering, abuse of power and criminal breach of trust.
The court also ordered Apandi to pay RM80,000 in legal costs to Lim.

PKR polls redo
The PKR election committee announced that the physical voting for eight divisions will need to be redone due to various technical issues.
The divisions are in Gua Musang, Pengkalan Chepa, Bachok, Ketereh and Tumpat in Kelantan, Dungun, Hulu Selangor and Padang Serai.
Some members have alleged sabotage in Hulu Selangor after voters turned up only to find there were no facilities to vote, prompting the exercise to be cancelled.
In the Kota Kinabalu division, its incumbent chief Christina Liew complained that candidates' names were missing from the tablets for voting.
Voting in other divisions was largely smoother.
