Indonesia rises against politicians
While Malaysia celebrates National Day, in Indonesia, the people are rising up against their elected politicians, widely perceived by Indonesians as being a corrupt class.
It began with protests against the country's Parliament approving a new monthly allowance of IDR50 million (RM12,851), which is ten times higher than the minimum wage in Jakarta.
Tempers skyrocketed after an e-hailing rider, Affan Kurniawan, was run over and killed by a police vehicle.
This sparked major protests across the country, as well as incidents of violence and looting.
The government is making concessions, including revoking some allowances for MPs, but President Prabowo Subianto is also vowing a crackdown against violent protesters.
