PAS flexes muscles at Bersatu
Crisis-addled Bersatu's days steering Perikatan Nasional are numbered.
PAS has made it clear that it's done giving deference to Bersatu, and during its just-concluded muktamar, asserted its position as the most powerful party in PN.
This comes just over a week after Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin thanked PAS for trusting the party to lead PN despite being a smaller party.
But it's not just control of PN that PAS wants. It’s eyeing the prime minister post too.
While PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang cautioned against being hasty on the matter, he outlined a clear vision about who should be the next prime minister.
Specifically, he said the premier should be someone below 70.
Muhyiddin - who previously counted on Hadi as a benefactor - is 78.

Call to merge matriculation-STPM
Universiti Malaya Association of New Youth (Umany) triggered a wave of upset after it called for the matriculation to be abolished, and for STPM to be the sole benchmark for entry into public universities.
However, it later said it had used the wrong term, and was instead proposing a merger between matriculation and STPM.
The initial abolition call has led to a police probe, while Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek dismissed any need for a revamp.
Meanwhile, the case of a Chinese matriculation graduate who has a perfect score as per the UPU system but was unable to get into a law programme is also in the spotlight.
