Azam finally leaving, but will probe end?
MACC chief Azam Baki will finally be retiring in three weeks as the government has decided not to extend his contract.
On the day that the Tangkap Azam Baki rally was to be held in Kuala Lumpur, the government announced that a former judge, Abdul Halim Aman, would be the next top graftbuster.
However, the announcement failed to deter protesters from gathering and demanding MACC reforms.
It is not clear why the Yang di-Pertuan Agong chose Halim, who is six years older than Azam, or why an external appointee was picked.
It is also not clear whether this will be the end of the road for investigations into Azam - and whether the government will close the book on his shareholdings scandal when his contract ends on May 12.
Meanwhile, PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar said the MACC must rise to the occasion.

Dispute over azan leads to flight ban, arrest
It started as a neighbourhood dispute between a non-Muslim resident and the local surau in Taman Seraya, Ampang, over the call to prayer (azan) and Friday prayers.
However, the matter has now escalated into a police investigation after the surau committee claimed they were harassed.
Selangor police appear to be taking the case extremely seriously and have placed the disgruntled resident on a special watchlist to prevent him from leaving the country.
The man, whose petition called for Friday prayers at the surau to cease, among others, has since been arrested.

Anwar wants proof over video claims
A new clip of businessperson Sofia Rini Buyong speaking to another person, believed to be businessperson Albert Tei, surfaced recently, and this time included allegations against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his former aide, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak.
In the video, she claimed an individual named “Anwar” had told another individual called “Farhash” to steal money, which the latter then sent to Africa.
The clip is believed to be from the same recording in which Sofia implicated Anwar’s former political secretary, Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin, of graft.
Anwar, however, is unperturbed by the allegations.
“If there is proof, show it. No one is above the law. But how come you’re entertaining some random ‘makcik’ (aunty) making such a comment?” Anwar said.
